Backing the south-east of Christchurch like a natural buffer, the Port Hills are ripe for exploration and open-air exercise. Chris talks about the Bridle Path and its amazing history, Mike heads to Godley Head with Crater Rim Walks and we showcase the trails and ziplines waiting for you at Christchurch Adventure Park.

Culinary delights of Christchurch. The post-quake rebuild of the city centre has dramatically redefined the culinary platter of the city. We start at the temple of temptation, the Riverside Market, before highlighting some of Christchurch’s food scene stars, from Amazonita, Fat Eddie’s and Botanic on The Terrace to Mumbaiwala, Café Valentino and Diner 66.

Christchurch is the perfectly positioned base camp for regional day tripping and side trips, whether it’s delving into the French fare of Akaroa, soaking yourself in the thermal hot pools at Hanmer Springs, whale watching in Kaikoura, wine tasting in Waipara, hitting the slopes at Mt Hutt, star-gazing in the Mackenzie or heading over the mighty Southern Alps to the wonders of the West Coast.
